Senior Safety, Health & Environmental Manager

South Wales | Market Competitive Salary | Monday-Friday | Permanent


Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is seeking an experienced Senior SHE Manager to lead the Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) function for strategic CAPEX initiatives. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance, direction, and leadership to ensure that all SHE objectives and targets are met across large-scale projects.


Key Duties:
  • Developing and implementing a world-class Safety, Health, and Environment strategy for strategic CAPEX programmes, aligned with company policies and principles.

  • Overseeing activities to identify, eliminate, control, and mitigate major hazards, ensuring compliance with CDM, COMAH, and other relevant legislation.

  • Driving best practice in risk management throughout all project phases and benchmarking performance externally.

  • Leading a professional SHE advisory service for project teams, supporting managers in fulfilling SHE responsibilities and acting as the organisation's CDM expert.

  • Collaborating with Central Health and Safety teams to monitor compliance and implement effective H&S management systems such as risk assessments.

  • Managing relationships with regulatory and representative bodies to ensure full compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental standards.

  • Reporting regularly on EHS performance and ensuring timely completion of investigations and corrective actions.


Requirements:
  • Extensive experience managing large and complex construction or CAPEX projects.

  • Senior line management experience within major plant or asset-based operations.

  • Proven ability to influence and drive cultural and behavioural change in safety practices.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and engagement skills across all levels of an organisation.

  • Comprehensive understanding of SHE legislation and compliance frameworks, including CDM and COMAH.
