Are you looking for a job with competitive pay rates and an exciting team to be a part of? Look no further than our Buyer position in Ilminster!
We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer to support our clients procurement team of both direct and indirect materials-ensuring the right quality, delivered on time, and at the most competitive cost. This role spans the entire product lifecycle, from new programme launch to steady-state production.

- £32,00 to £36,00 per annum - depending on experiences
Key Responsibilities
Procure direct materials in alignment with operational needs, responding to MRP requirements.
Maintain accurate supplier data, including lead times, safety stocks, and yield parameters within the MRP/ERP system.
Support competitive tender processes for new requirements; assist in supplier negotiations to secure optimal pricing and terms.
Foster and manage strong, proactive relationships with suppliers.
Collaborate with internal teams to manage inventory levels in line with product lifecycles and business needs.
Contribute to cost-reduction initiatives and process improvements.
Monitor and report procurement KPIs including On-Time Delivery (OTD), Price Variance (PPV), and Quality Performance.
Work cross-functionally to resolve procurement challenges and enhance supply chain efficiency.
Drive continuous improvement in procurement tools, processes, and systems.
Ensure strict adherence to company policies, including health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Qualifications and Experience
CIPS qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
Willingness to study further (support available for the right candidate).
Experience working within a manufacturing environment (essential).
Strong understanding of MRP systems and procurement best practices.
Technical experience and knowledge of aerospace or medical industry standards is advantageous.
Contract negotiation and management experience.
Excellent IT skills, especially Microsoft Office.
Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
Project management experience is a plus.

Cost Savings / PPV.
Inventory Management Effectiveness.
Risk and Cost Mitigation.
Successful New Product Launch Support.
