Mazak CNC Lathe Setter Operator Machinist

Location: Portsmouth

Hours: 37.5 hours a week. Monday to Friday

Rotating shifts 06:00 - 14:00 / 14:00 - 22:00

Salary: £19.60 an hour

Acorn by Synergie is currently seeking an experienced Mazak CNC Lathe Setter Machinist, required by their client, a leading global manufacturing and engineering company. This role offers full-time work on a temporary basis, working rotating shifts.

What are we looking for?

• Proving out new programs and Setting and Operating Mazak CNC Lathe machinery
• Fully competent in Machine Setting
• Ability to prove out new Mazak programs.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and carry out self-inspection using measuring equipment
• Must have knowledge of working with stainless steel.
• Setting, operating, self-inspection, job recording, reading drawings.
• Ability to communicate effectively across all departments and functions
• Must be of a willing and flexible nature
• This job may entail working on more than one machine within the machine shop

Main responsibilities

• Setting/programming CNC/NC lathe Machinery using Mazatrol or other controls. As this is not a large batch manufacturing facility setting is a major part of this role
• Operating machinery within the Machine shop, manufacturing component parts for filter housings
• Record all work accurately within the database
• Clock on and off each job that you work on
• Reading engineering drawings
• Self-inspection of finished product using measuring equipment
• Reporting any production issues to the shift Line Leader in the first instance
• To look for and implement opportunities for continuous improvement of processes to reduce cost and improve efficiency
• Any other duties as reasonably required including following all Health & Safety policies
