The Forestry Commission is a non-ministerial government department responsible for the management of publicly owned forests, and the regulation of both public and private forestry, in England.

Acorn is proud to work in partnership with Forestry England to supply into their two Nursey Operations in Cheshire and Scarborough where they grow and grade tree saplings.

The nurseries have a current annual programme to supply the public forest estate with up to 12 million forest-usable trees. A wide range of mainly conifer and some broadleaved species are grown from seed and cuttings to meet this demand. The plant stock is produced both in the open nursery as a bare-root product and also containerised, grown in our poly-tunnel and glasshouse complex. The container nursery also produces up to 1 million rooted cuttings for use on the open nursery.

Working in partnership with Forestry England, we are looking for Plant Nursey and Forestry Workers.

These are fantastic opportunities to work in a uniquely natural environment as an important part of the team responsible for growing and grading seeds and tree plants for use in UK forests and across the world.

This work can take place in all weathers and involves both indoor and outdoor work.

Forestry England explorer

As England’s largest land manager, Forestry England look after more trees than any other organisation. Their forests provide amazing places for people to enjoy, for sustainable timber to grow and a home for wildlife to thrive.

What separates Forestry England from other organisations is that they're always adapting; from cultural changes over time to bigger issues like a changing climate. They are developing forests today while carefully planning the future. It’s a job that never stops growing.
