Acorn is delighted to be partnering with Bouygues UK at Cardiff University, in South Wales after they were awarded a contract worth £122.6 million (€134 million) for the construction of its Innovation Campus.
Bouygues UK is determined to make sure that the construction of this project provides a fantastic facility for Cardiff University but through its construction also makes a valuable contribution to the local community through jobs created, work experience, close partnership and collaboration with local educational establishments from primary through to higher education.
Located at Maindy Park, the Cardiff Innovation Campus (CIC) will incorporate two high-tech centres.
One will house SPARK, the world’s first social science research park, and the Innovation Centre, a creative space for start-ups, spin-outs and partnerships, designed by Hawkins Brown Architects. The other, the Translational Research Facility (TRF), designed by HOK architects, will be home to two leading scientific research establishments: the Institute for Compound Semiconductors and the Cardiff Catalysis Institute.

Through this project, they are actively supporting initiatives to help support rehabilitation of ex-offenders, long term unemployed and underrepresented groups in the industry.
Through the course of the project, there will be vacancies for various construction roles from Site Managers, Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors to Labourers, Carpenters and Forklift Operators.
